For the first time in Greece three active carriers of the thracian accordion are collaborating in the search for new possibilities and sounds in thracian music. Original compositions exclusively for three accordions converse with existing thracian folk melodies, creating an environment of narration. A story that has as a starting point the old mnemonic Orpheus of the oral folk tradition and reaching its corresponding modern Orphic descendant. The accordion in the role of the bagpipe, in the role of the singer, in the role of the drum. The folk music tradition in its modern version through a concert with an axis: 3 accordions!

From bagpipe to accordion Thracian accordion seminar
The accordion has acquired a remarkable role in the Thracian folk music tradition. Various elements of this musical culture were incorporated into the way of playing the accordion, but it mainly replaced its potential "ancestor", the bagpipe (the most dominant instrument of Thracian music, which is called gáida). The seminar will analyze the ways and techniques of simulating this music on the accordion, methods of performance and the various "schools" of the Thracian accordion since it appeared. Also, the three coordinators of the seminar (Drikoudis, Mpozoglou, Pasopoulos) will present, analyze and compare elements of each one's particular style and sound.
duration: 3 hours Sunday 27/9, 12:00-15:00 price: 30€ (20€ reduced) maximum number of participants: 10
